Flowers for a Vagabond : Toby MacLean

Flowers for a Vagabond : Toby Maclean

Australian fashion designer Toby MacLean launched his own signature label Flowers For A Vagabond at the Rosemount Australian Fashion Week this month.

The collection is inspired by the anatomy of insects and their protective shell. Much like a modern woman they are soft and delicate underneath with a powerful armour on the outside creating a presence, and protecting them from a world outside their own. The collection is tonal, made up of a collage of contrasting Martials. The focus is on slouchy wool jersey and the way it can be manipulated into insecticidal forms and silhouettes combined with metal plating, chiffon, suede, organza and leathers.

Flowers For a VagabOnd has collaborated with Photographer and Film-maker, Dirk Hughes, to create a film on how the collection is influenced by an insects form evolving into a womanly silhouette.

Lane Bryant Lingerie : Size Matters

April 24, 2010 – 2:13 pm by Bibhuti | No Comments »

“Nobody fits you like Lane Bryant.”

Apparently this ad was initially rejected by ABC and Fox to air it on their shows,
“Dancing with the Stars” and “American Idol“ respectively. Finally they have agreed
to run it during the later portions of the shows, outside the so called family hour.
You would be disappointed if you are expecting too much and it doesn’t seem to be
too hot to handle. Nothing great about the commercial but Lane Bryant must be
happy about the controversy and news space it’s getting.

Specsavers : Specs Effect

March 24, 2010 – 1:57 pm by Bibhuti | No Comments »

They say the only thing harder than reaching the top is to stay there. The Axe
Effect will drive all the hot babes towards you but can it retain them? Probably
not if you are using anything but Specsavers. A nice parody of Axe ad.

Wrangler : We Are Animals

Wrangler : We Are Animals

Wrangler has revealed its new image for this 2010 Spring/Summer season,
which goes by the name of Red. A powerful, visceral campaign centred on the
human being’s most primary instincts. Men and women have been photographed
in red waters or amidst the fury of twirling red dust. A new approach to the
concept We Are Animals by a fit, strengthened Wrangler. The campaign We Are
Animals comes packed with emotions. Each image is a high dose of adrenalin,
tension and passion, with red as the basic colour. Each character becomes the
personification of the inner strength of an unleashed man, a sweeping animal alter
ego. The new campaign features two distinct phases, the first one to be shown
at Berlin’s Bread&Butter, with an important presence in the city and in the
specialized press on the occasion of the fair. In March, there comes the second
assault, aimed at the public through several channels –graphic, street ads, digital,
and stores.

I was not really too impressed with the earlier “We Are Animals” campaigns which
incidentally won some awards. I am not too convinced about this one too. But, I
must admit these visuals drenched in Red are simply stunning.

XOXO Clothing Line : Window Theater

XOXO Clothing Line : Window Theater

Nothing will surprise me anymore. Everybody knows that sex sells in advertising, but this marketing stunt for female clothing line XOXO in New York is crossing the line way too much.

The scene in a young woman’s apartment is recreated in a holiday window display where two “living mannequins” models try on clothes, flip through magazines and even paint each other’s fingernails. After dark they switch to evening wear and spend hours getting dressed for a night on the town. All in front of curious onlookers.
