Neo Sports: Ooga Booga Stomach

I love this one. Animation for this ad is way too good and upto the global standards. Happy to see such good animated ads in India.

Watch another one:

These are the kind of ads that I would love to see between the over breaks instead of the Vodafone Happy to Help Pug which irritates you after every over bowled in IPL. (Not that it is a bad ad, but they are showing is way too many times. It simply irritates now.)

Anyways, coming back to Neo Sports and the ad agency involved here, this is one helluva job !!
Kudos to you guys.

Neo Sports: Rajnikanth - Non Striker

May 6, 2008 – 4:03 pm by Sulakshan | No Comments »

“Cricket Simplified”

How come we did not spot this one till date ? We love anything with Rajnikanth in it. I don’t know about you, but I really enjoyed this ad. We have seen some really great ads for Neo Sports in the past (like the Tension ad that we showcased in our top 10 ads for 2007.)

There are quite a few Neo Sport ads in Cricket Simplified series. All off them are pretty good. But this one stands out.

I also liked the one below.

Ok, 1 more please. This one’s also cool.

I wonder, how come we missed such good ads.

I will get more details one who is behind these Neo Sport ads and update you guys. This is great work. These are way better than all the IPL ads, with film stars dancing to some shitty music.

Max Newyork Life : Pension Plans

April 23, 2008 – 12:50 pm by Shiva | No Comments »

One of the well-thought out ads in the recent past. Most insurance-related ads from my viewpoint have never hit the deck or laid the punch. But all that perception changes when once sees ‘Max Newyork Life - Pension Plans’ advertisement.

The ad traces the journey of man from his childhood through marriage, kids and retirement. As a child, he is cautioned not to jump into the river as a measure of discipline. The kid resigns to the caution, sacrifices his desire to play in the waters. Again when the person has a tiff with his boss, he flares up, raises to walk off, but is then cautioned by the image of his pregnant wife. There he is compelled to control his emotions. Similarly, he is cautioned by the image of his growing kids when he wishes to buy a new mercedes benz car. But then when he retires, he breaks free and jumps into the river to enjoy. The caption says “you have made enough sacrifices, compromises, but you dont need to compromise anymore”.

This truly drives the essence and importance of pension plan. It conveys how insurance planning with pension benefits drives home the safety factor that you need not compromise on quality of living for want of money or financial freedom. I just love the ad in a wholesome manner. I wish people make more sensible ads like this.

HCL : Touches lives

April 22, 2008 – 10:19 am by Shiva | No Comments »

Agency: Draft-FCB-Ulka, India

I think its a Self Adulation Effort from HCL and they have gone all the way out to do that in this ad. It seems like(atleast the story/screenplay behind the ad) the people talking about the wow’s of HCL Technology were pleaded/paid to deliver the dialogues given to them. I feel that the HCL admirers in the ad were giggling when they were saying their sentences. I do not understand the philosophy behind HCL going for such ads. If you want to project the versatility of your offerings, do it some other way and NOT THIS WAY! Also, the model representing HCL comes out as a snob when he talks. I dont think that gels well with people who see what an employee of HCL could be or conduct himself like.

If I see anyone from HCL involved in the advertising/marketing of this AD, I will say ‘COME ONNN’!
