This is a surrogate campaign for Seagram’s Royal Stag liquor. The ad features Saif Ali Khan, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Robin Utthapa as members of a band. Not able to get it right while jamming session, they plan to do something different to ‘Make it large’. All the crickers go to a mall where a mask man runs away with Dhoni’s bag and they chase him through different parts of the city. This generates curiousity and gathers crowd. And finally the robber removes his mask only to reveal that he is Saif and they perform in front of a large audience.

What a waste of money and resources ? It looks so artificial,lacks soul and definitely could do without so many celebrities. The sequence where the cricketers are running on top of bus reminded me of the Nike Cricket ad which was simply superb.

Guerilla marketing always fascinates me as it is more about matching wits than matching budgets and this demands genuine creativity. This is the ad of Casinò di Venezia where the baggage collection belt is creatively used to market the casino. Brilliant job.

Before you wonder what this ad is for, let me tell that this is a 2008 new year greeting card created by Objects Advertising in Jordan. The picture features the year “2007″ in Arabic and the number 7 is selected to be rotated 180 degrees which will become 8 after rotation(In Arabic, 7 and the 8 have the same shape only have opposite directions) and hence “2008″. Smart idea to wish Happy New Year 2008.

We all remember the television commercial of Maggi from Doordarshan days. The kid cries “Mummy bhook lagi” after coming back from school and the mom says “Bus do minute”. Maggi has become synonymous with 2 minutes (Instant ready) to such an extent that when Sourav Ganguly was terribly out of form the joke going around was:

How to Cook Maggie?
4 simple steps to cook Maggi noodles.
Step 1: boil one cup of water.
Step 2: as soon as ganguly goes for batting, put the noodles in the boiled water and put the tastemaker.
Step 3: stir till ganguly is onfield.
Step 4: As soon as ganguly is back in pavilion, your noodles r ready to eat.
