Center Fruit : Jugalbandi

“Kaisi jeebh laplapayee!”

Somewhere on the river bank of a village in India, a jugalbandi between a classical
singer and a tabla player is going on. The tabla artist is just destroying the poor
singer and suddenly a miracle happens. Watch out this hilarious tv commercial to
see the magic of Center Fruit chewing gum.

Center Fruit : ATM

February 24, 2008 – 12:43 pm by Shiva | No Comments »

Center Fruit. Kaisi jeebh laplapayee.”

Agency : O&M, India

The ad is about a person driving in the jungle and comes across an ATM. An old man sitting next to the ATM takes the credit card and opens the dispenser. This exposes a man who is held captive (looks like it). Upon showing a center fresh, the money is dispensed with the use of the man’s tongue (depicting that the man is eager to get some chewing gum in his mouth and this process is used for pushing the currency out).

Do you call this funny? I don’t understand the motivation behind this ad. Does it mean to say people will do anything for an ordinary thing of ‘chewing gum’ translated to the depicted scenario of human dispenser in an ATM. How sad!!!

Mentos : Monkey and Donkey

February 19, 2008 – 12:38 pm by Bibhuti | No Comments »

Agency : O&M, India

Do you remember the Darwin’s theory of evolution you studied in school ? No need to worry if you don’t. This animated campaign will give you a different theory on the evolution of man.

The ad starts with a ’slave’ monkey pulling the ‘master’ donkey on a wooden plank. The monkey finds a Mentos on the way but the donkey dismisses it with a grunt when he asks him about it. The monkey tries his luck and put the Menots into his mouth which triggers the evolution. The next sequences will show the monkey to learn hunting, clothing, making fire and inventing wheel. And finally the monkey, now a ‘Man’, meets his old friend and the role is reversed with the donkey pulling him on a cart.

This is a continuation of the earlier Mentos advertisements with the theme “Dimaag ki Batti Jala De“. The evolution starts after monkey’s brain is enlightened by Mentos. Though there is not much logic (No complain), it is funny to watch and will specially be liked by young people.

Trivia : Where did the Mentos come from if man was not evolved then ?
